Letter from our new Benefice Administrator
- From Tracy Purnell
- Hello my name is Tracy Purnell and I'm delighted to be taking up the position of Benefice Administrator, commencing 21st August 2006.
My previous experience has been primarily working with not for profit organisations or charities, most recently this was spent with Victim Support Wiltshire as coordinator for the Rape Support Helpline. I'm a qualified counsellor and supervisor, although currently taking a well earned break from any client work. My working life began as a clerical officer in the civil service and this gave me a thorough grounding in office practice. I’ve worked as a Warden in Sheltered Housing, Run a chain of independent Video Libraries, and worked as a Trainer for various statutory and voluntary agencies.
I have a particular interest in IT and the internet which I hope will enable me to set up and coordinate the systems needed to enable the 5 parishes to fully integrate as one Benefice.
I'm married to Rob who is a serving member of the RAF and we have one son Nicholas (19) who has just finished 3 years at Wiltshire College qualifying in media production work ready to start his career as the next James Cameron. We live in Lyneham with our rescue Greyhound Noggin the Nog and I am very involved in animal welfare issues and animal rescue. In my spare time amongst other things I administrate a very busy online animal welfare forum and build websites for animal welfare groups.
I am very much looking forward to getting to know the members of the Benefice and Community who will undoubtedly prove invaluable in helping me settle in and find out what needs to be done.

- January 2007
- Well I have settled into the job now and am loving every moment of it; everyone has made me feel most welcome!
My commissioning ceremony was a wonderful experience and it was lovely to meet many of you and be able to put faces to voices that I had only heard over the telephone.
Philip & Anna and the children have been marvelous about accepting me into their home 3 days a week and I have to say that the chocolate cake is very much enjoyed with my morning tea!
The website is starting to take shape, and we now have a photography gallery for you to be able to join and upload all your community photos. We'd also love to see examples of the fabulous artwork that many of the children have produced during Sunday family services; if you don't have the faculties to scan these into a digital format I would be happy to do so for you.
I aim to make the website a true community information hub, and to that end I will be relying upon you to inform me of any local events, clubs and societies around and about the Benefice area so that I can list you on the site and publicise your activities.
If you are a local business we have space available for you to advertise your services at a very reasonable cost, please contact me for details.
If there are any items that you'd like to see on the site please do let me know!
I hope to post regular updates as the site develops.
